Alcohol and Other Drugs Task Force

The UW Oshkosh AODA Task Force operates under the direction of the Dean of Students and is one of several initiatives on campus working to address Healthy Campus 2020 goals.  The mission of the AODA Task Force is to develop comprehensive methods for the prevention and reduction of alcohol and other drug issues within the university community through education, advocacy, and collaboration.

Strategic Plan Goals:
  1. Develop consistent practices between UWO campuses and their communities to increase support and early intervention services for students.
  2. Develop and sustain environmental strategies that reduce participation in high-risk drinking occasions in order to minimize high-risk behaviors and negative outcomes.
  3. Broaden and enhance institutional engagement in alcohol and marijuana prevention and early intervention efforts.

Sponsored by the Office of National Drug Control Policy. A database for information on numerous substances, including effects, statistics, prevention and treatment, crime, and personal stories that is geared toward students.

Campus Drug Prevention – The Student Center
Information for students on college substance misuse, ways to help a friend, a student voices section, special focus on marijuana and prescription drugs.

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
Provides institutions of higher education and their surrounding communities with these resources to prevent drug abuse among college students. They are committed to promoting the importance of prevention and its role in helping ensure the health and safety of our nation’s colleges and universities.

National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
This site provides up-to-date information on drugs of abuse, addiction science research and recent federal publications on drugs.

Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA)
Resources and data related to substance abuse and it intersectionality with behavioral health, suicide, criminal justice, education, and treatment.

Vaults of Erowid 
A privately funded website devoted to all aspects of psychoactive plants and drugs, including use experiences, chemistry, law and policy, health and statistics, spiritual and cultural use, history, images and drug testing.

Alcohol and Public Health 
The site, which is managed by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, has a wide variety of print and online media resources.

Provides information on alcohol and health, publications and multimedia, research and grant funding.
