Jordan Dvorak

FSET and W-2 Team Lead at Forward Service Corporation
UWO ’12 Human Services Leadership major, Women’s Studies minor

What do you do during a typical day at work?
I currently work for Forward Service Corporation and supervise the FSET (Food Share Employment Training) Program staff. I make sure company, county, state and federal policies are being met. I work with the community to educate them on FSET program and create partnerships for referrals. I also work with staff to make sure the needs of our participants are being met on a daily bases.

Why did you choose UWO?
The community at UWO is like no other. The campus is very welcoming and diverse. It was also small enough that it felt like home but big enough to know that everyone would not be in my business.

How has Women’s and Gender Studies influenced your career path?
Women’s and Gender Studies taught me a lot about diversity. It also taught me how to be open minded and have conversations with people who different in opinions than mine without making it an argument. I feel like to program empowered me to have a voice.

Do you have any advice you’d like to share with current students?
I feel like the best thing students can do today is gain experience in their field through internships. And that doesn’t mean just one internship, go out and experience more than one organization and see what population suits you best. Internships can open so many doors for someone if you truly put in the effort to learn and meet people in your field.
