Kaara is known for her quick comedic timing and “warm, lustrous voice.” A native of Massachusetts, Ms. McHugh has performed in the United States and Europe with Teatro Grattacielo, the UMass Chamber Choir, the Franco-American Vocal Academy, and Diamonds from the Dust. Ms. McHugh enjoys performing art song, masterworks, and musical theatre. She champions French mélodies by composers such as Debussy, Duparc, and Poulenc. In musical theater, her favorite roles include Maria Von Trapp in the Sound of Music, Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Johanna Barker in Sweeney Todd, and Ulla in The Producers.

Kaara McHugh holds a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy from the Boston Conservatory. At the conservatory, Kaara focused on cross-training singers in both classical and contemporary pedagogies. In addition to teaching private voice for 10 years, Kaara was a public-school music educator for 5 years, teaching k-12 band, general music, choir, and musical theatre.

Kaara is very active in the Green Bay theatre and music scene. She has been the soprano soloist for the Beethoven Mass in C at the Weidner Center with the Dudley Birder Chorale, the soprano soloist for the Allouez Village Band in 2019, and will be reprising her role as Della in Play-by-Play Theatre’s production of Gift of the Magi.  Kaara has a robust studio of singers at Studio 12 in Green Bay and teaches voice at the Green Bay East High School Fine Arts program.
