Important Commencement Announcement

Dear University community,

In five short weeks, we will reach the end of a spring semester unlike any that has come before; and for a number of our students their time on our UW Oshkosh campuses is coming to a close.

It was only three weeks ago we made the painful decision to cancel our spring face-to-face commencement ceremony due to concerns about the COVID-19 crisis sweeping our world.

Today we are able to announce the ways we will celebrate our students’ achievements, honor their hard work and mark the moment they become members of our larger communities.

On Saturday, May 16, we will host a virtual commencement program. We plan to include as much of the Pomp and Circumstance that would mark an in-person ceremony. More details on this will be shared with you soon.

Graduates also are invited to walk in the midyear commencement ceremony scheduled Saturday, Dec. 19, on the UWO Oshkosh campus.

We arrived at these options based on feedback we received from students, both in emails they sent to me personally and their responses to the survey that our commencement team created.

We look forward to “seeing” our graduates and University community on May 16 as we participate from far and wide through the marvel of technology in this important moment.

Hail Titans.
