’67 Jim O’Laughlin (B), of Omaha, Nebraska, retired as vice president from Morgan Stanley. O’Laughlin is enjoying playing tennis and pickleball and spending time with his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

’72 Roe Parker (LS), of Oregon, is the president of Anderson Park Friends, a group that develops and maintains Anderson Farm County Park in Oregon. Parker has worked as a community organizer in Rock County and helps organize and run food pantries and a community garden that helps supply local food pantries.

’73 Daniel Krhin (LS), of Oshkosh, facilitated a financial literacy program at Ripon College, where he works as the executive director for the U.S. Department of Education Student Support Services. Krhin’s program educates students on saving for retirement.

’74 Michael Dempsey (LS), of Oshkosh, is president of Bank First and a community volunteer who has served as president of Waterfest Inc. since 1992.

’78 Jeffery Gerritt (LS), of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is the editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Gerritt won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Writing, and previously worked for the Palestine Herald-Press in Texas.

’79 Jody (Reif) Ziemann (EHS), of Berlin, received the Distinguished Language Educator Award from the Wisconsin Association of Foreign Language Teachers. Ziemann has taught Spanish in the Berlin Area School District since 1980.

’80 Michael Bates (LS) and ’84 Kathy Bates (MSE), of Appleton, are enjoying retirement after many years of involvement with St. Francis Xavier High School in Appleton. Michael worked as a journalist and information director for the Wisconsin Athletics Director Association. Kathy was the Athletic Director for Xavier High School for 29 years.

’80 Sandy (Warner) Bevels (EHS), of Salisbury, North Carolina, retired from the Rowan-Salisbury School System after 29 years. Bevels is looking forward to being involved in her church, tutoring, traveling and spending time with her two children and two grandchildren.

’80 Randall Nesbitt (LS), of Sturgeon Bay, works in municipal law, real estate law, contracts, employment law, general practice, and business development with the law firm of Conway, Olejniczak, and Jerry, S.C. Nesbitt was previously an assistant district attorney in Outagamie County and an attorney in Sturgeon Bay for more than 35 years.

’80 Phillip Whitebloom (B), of Elkridge, Maryland, opened BeenThere Consulting Services, LLC to help individuals, companies, and organizations achieve their goals. Whitebloom has enjoyed being a guest presenter for the UWO College of Business for 17 years.

’84 Franklin Cumberbatch (B), of Milwaukee, is vice president of engagement at Bader Philanthropies. Cumberbatch is co-leading the construction of a sports facility on the north side of Milwaukee aimed at community well-being and trauma-informed services.

’84 Ann Buechel Haak (EHS) and ’88 (MSE), of Elkhart Lake, is retiring after 38 years in the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Schools. She worked as a teacher, middle school principal and has been the district administrator since 2008.

’87 Jacqueline Robinson (EHS), of Brownsville, is the agricultural ambassador at Envision Greater in Fond du Lac, where she will work to develop and implement agricultural education for students in the Fond du Lac Area School District.

’88 Joanne (Bader) Horvath (B) and ’14 (MBA), of Greenville, is the chief financial officer at Rogers Behavioral Health. Horvath has over two decades in healthcare finance leadership, including her role as vice president of finance and treasury at ThedaCare.

’88 Brenda (Zabawa) Stiegman (LS), of Gleason, is a realtor at Re/Max Property Pros. Stiegman has 25 years of management experience.

’89 Troy Ugoretz (LS), of Shawano, is the Chief of Police for the Village of Crivitz. Ugoretz was formerly a detective with the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department.

’90 Jan (Kohlbeck) Scoville (LS) and ’92 (MSE), of Luxemburg, received the Mischler Award for Outstanding Service to students. Scoville is the dean of regional learning at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and serves on the Bay Area Arts and Culture Alliance.

’94 Scott Blashka (LS), of Neenah, is the Fox Crossing chief of police. Blashka has 27 years of experience with the Fox Crossing and Menasha Police Departments.

’95 Shelly (Disch) Mogensen (MBA), of Marinette, is the vice president and chief credit officer at Stephenson National Bank and Trust.

’96 Alfred Johnson (EHS) and ’95 Shawna (Erdman) Johnson (N), of Sun Prairie, a deputy administrator for the State of Wisconsin and a triage nurse in Madison respectively, have been married over 20 years and have two sons.

’98 Luke Whitburn (LS), of Waunakee, is vice president of talent acquisition with Cultivate Behavioral Health and Education.

’99 Chia Vang (EHS), of Appleton, wrote The Illiterate Daughter, a book that chronicles her experience as a refugee from Laos and her struggles to adapt to a new life in Wisconsin. Vang attended high school with little understanding of English and achieved her goals of becoming an educator and writer. She serves as a teacher in the Appleton Area School District.

’01 Bill Nelson (LS), of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, a foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of State, received the U.S. Department of State’s Barbara M. Watson Award for Consular Excellence for his work as visa chief at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul where he supervised the Afghanistan Special Immigrant Visa Unit.

’02 Katie MacLean (LS), of St. Louis, Missouri, is director of graduate admissions and recruitment for Saint Louis University’s School of Social Work. MacLean is a licensed clinical social worker in Missouri and Illinois with a private psychotherapy practice specializing in work with older adult caregivers and those with dementia.

’02 Christopher Thomas (MSE), of Petoskey, Michigan, is a retired special education teacher.

’04 Deb Rades (EHS), of Marion, was initiated into the Nu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, a Shawano and Waupaca County organization that raises money for educational causes and scholarships. Rades is a fourth-grade teacher in Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

’05 Adam Drys (B), of Marinette, purchased Little River Country Club after working there nearly 20 years.

’05 Caroline Sass-Blustin (MBA), of Berlin, is the vice president of Wisconsin Spice Inc.

’06 Rayna Andrews (LS), of Milwaukee, is director of the Dohmen Company Foundation’s Food for Health Program. Andrews previously served as founder and CEO of the Healthy Food Movement.

’06 Jeni (Kimmet) Asaba (LS), of Robinsdale, Minnesota started Building for Bridget, a nonprofit that is building schools in Uganda. Asaba is a senior manager of community engagement and advocacy at Jamf.

’07 Michelle Haza (LS), of Campbellsport, is a paraplanner with Mark D. Rasner’s financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services Inc.

’07 Jeremie Rothman (LS), of Panorama City, California, is a graphic designer with Harbor Freight Tools. Rothman works on party games and creates sports graphics for fun.

’09 John McManus (OCE), of Janesville, was named deputy fire chief for the Janesville Fire Department. McManus has held several positions in his 25 years with the department.

’09 Bryan Wright (LS), of Winneconne, is the founder of Dynamic Family Solutions, an organization that creates educational content for children and teens in critical, life-altering situations. Wright developed an intervention program to educate young people on sexting and its potential consequences.

’12 Kelli Karpinski (MBA), of Oshkosh, is a business representative in the economic and workforce development department at Moraine Park Technical College.

’13 Jason Coenen (LS), of Sycamore, Illinois, a UWO Geology lab professor, is working on an ocean drilling project in two sites as part of the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 361. This project involves missions around the world for study of sediments dating back to the Mesozoic era.

’19 Jeremey Benzinger (EHS), of Waukesha, is a high school and middle school physical education teacher in the Valders Area School District. Benzinger was previously a long-term substitute teacher in the Kimberly schools.

’20 Stephanie Kikkert (EHS), of Princeton, is an alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) counselor for Winnebago County.
