Jacquelynn Connell, new student events coordinator on the Fox Cities campus of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, recently co-authored a guide to preparing students for college. Sharing the Transition to College Workbook was created with veteran educator Jennifer Sullivan, founder of the Connecticut-based Fast Forward College Coaching. It’s a proactive and student-centered workbook that empowers students to think critically and creatively about themselves, their strengths and how they can bring their knowledge to their journey after high school.

Sharing the Transition to College addresses all areas of the move into higher education and builds students’ skills to help them academically, personally and socially, with more than 80 practical activities, exercises, templates and real-world scenarios to get them thinking and practicing skills needed for success.

“It is a comprehensive resource that makes it easy for educators, school counselors and transition professionals to guide their students in the college transition process,” Connell said. “There is no right way to use the workbook. It’s versatile and able to be customized to build your student’s specific college readiness skills.”

Connell has worked at UW Oshkosh since 2014, when she started as a residence hall director.

The 200-plus-page workbook was published in January and is available in paperback on Amazon.
