‘71 Kathleen Paris (EHS), of Madison, co-edited the book Bending Granite, 30+ True Stories of Leading Change, a collection of first-person conversational stories about the changing world geared toward anyone leading change at any level.

‘73 Barb Borkovec (EHS), of Antigo, is very active in her church, St. John the Evangelist. Brokovec retired after 20 years as a second-grade teacher at Crestwood Elementary School. She is married to ’83 Harold Borkovec (MBA).

‘73 Tom Luljak (LS), of Milwaukee, retired in 2021 after more than 50 years in the radio, journalism and education field. Luljak is currently the interim director at Wisconsin Public Radio.

White is chairman of the board of the Prairie State College Board of Trustees where he has served since 2015.

’85 Michael Horvath (EHS), of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, is a private practice counselor and member of the rock band SoulBeast. Horvath plays guitar, bass, keyboards and sings backup vocals.

’87 Rob Kleman (B), of Oshkosh, will serve as president and CEO of the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce effective Jan. 1, 2023. Kleman is currently the Chamber’s senior vice president of economic development.

‘87 Kathleen “Katie” (Schumacher) Pethan (EHS), of Manitowoc, retired after teaching for over 30 years in the Valders community. Pethan plans to travel with her husband and fellow retired teacher, ‘84 John Pethan (EHS).

‘88 Brenda (Schulteis) Lastrilla (N), of Summit, is a registered nurse at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital. Lastrilla is married to ’88 Martin Lastrilla (LS).

‘97 Brian Shimon (MSE), of Sussex, is the principal at Burlington Catholic Central High School. Shimon was principal at St. John Vianney Catholic School in Brookfield the past four years and has over 25 years experience in education.

‘97 Jim Mielke (MPA), of Beaver Dam, is retiring after 14 years as the Dodge County administrator.

‘97 Steven Johnson (LS), of Milwaukee, was promoted to Assistant Chief of the Milwaukee Police Department where he has worked for over 25 years.

‘98 Gena (Schmidt) Frey (LS) and ’06 (MPA), of Oshkosh, is a recipient of the 2022 Fox Cities Chamber’s Excellence in Student Services Shining Star Award. Frey is the director of the Reading and Study Skills Center at UW Oshkosh.

‘00 Garth Wicinsky (MBA) of the Winneconne, is the president and CEO of Secura Insurance. Wicinsky has been with Secura since 1996, most recently serving as a senior vice president and chief administrative officer.

‘05 Kevin Deering (EHS), of Grafton, is the executive director of educational services with the Mequon-Thiensville School District. Deering was the principal at John Long Middle School in the Grafton School District. He is married to ’05 Jennifer (Whealon) Deering (EHS) and ’08 (MSE).

‘10 April Zuberbier (MBA), of Appleton, is senior vice president of investments and insurance at Community First Credit Union. Zuberbier previously worked at Thrivent.

‘13 Holden Gerner (LS), of Waupun, is an area manager for Walmart Logistics.

’14 Chris Tarmann (EHS), of Neenah, was selected to be a torch bearer for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run at the Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando. Tarmann is the acting UW Oshkosh police chief and founder of Run With the Cops, a fundraiser on the UWO campus.

‘19 Alex (Weiland) Mitchell (LS), of Kaukauna, is a data analyst with EatStreet. Mitchell and her spouse, ‘20 Logan Mitchell (LS), recently purchased a home on the Fox River.
