Social Media Decoded is hosted by Michelle Thames, a social media strategist based in Chicago. In the episode published on July 22, Thames interviews Fredrickson about completing a website and social media audit—a topic the UW Oshkosh educator has been discussing in classrooms for years.

In the 30-minute chat, Fredrickson—who also earned her master’s of business administration from UWO in 1999—lays out for listeners why business-owners should audit their online presence and how to do it. Thames’ podcast, which has more than 70,000 subscribers, is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and business owners simplify social media and thrive online.

The two first connected in 2021 after one of Fredrickson’s digital marketing student teams featured Social Media Decoded in a project. Highlights of their work was posted on LinkedIn, and it caught Thames’ attention. She reached out to Fredrickson, wanting to learn more about the project and her courses in general. Thames has since twice been a guest speaker via Zoom.

Fredrickson, who was interviewed virtually for the episode in June, said plans are underway for Thames to come to Oshkosh for another episode and to speak to students in person this fall.
