A University of Wisconsin Oshkosh student group is the first competitor to take first place in the National Organ Donor Awareness Campaign competition for two consecutive years.

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) sponsors an organ donor awareness campaign each spring. UW Oshkosh’s 2008 winning campaign, “Use Your Feet: Keep Your Family Up to Beat,” included a one-mile walk/run followed by live music by Infinity Theory. In addition, informational materials were distributed throughout the previous week.

In informing the chapter that it had placed first again this year, sponsor Rowan University said, “The campaign’s creative shoelace packaging secured a professional, well-executed campaign, surpassing our expectations.”

Chairperson of the campaign was Ashley Madaus, of Burlington, who graduated in spring 2008. Her father, Mel, is an organ donor recipient.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today. Click here to submit.
