Kira2Kira Fritsch, who works in the planning and construction area in Facilities Management at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, has been named the recipient of the August STAR Award.

She was nominated by Anne Murphy, who works in the Reading Study Center at UW Oshkosh.

Fritsch’s nomination follows:

“Kira was our facility designer for the asbestos abatement and remodel within the Student Health Center beginning last spring. It was a huge undertaking and Kira handled herself professionally at ALL times. We are not an easy area to work with and Kira was very amenable to our wants and needs. We didn’t realize the magnitude of the project and Kira helped bring it down to our vision in pieces and explained herself with spreadsheets and communication. We didn’t know we’d have extra painting, shelving, and odds-and-ends to complete.

“Kira and her workers (Jim, Bud, John, etc.) were very cordial to all the additions and changes that were brought to them. (It was many at times and I’m sure overwhelming at others.) Kira kept us updated by meeting weekly and it was EXTREMELY helpful as she gave us walk-throughs to explain and see what was happening. We all appreciated having Kira at our fingertips to keep us in the loop and as a go-to for questions and most importantly for answers–there were so many! From getting samples to us for decision-making (who knew there were so many types of floor coverings!) and finding cleaning solutions for the mess the asbestos crew left behind to coordinating the less-than-helpful movers, pod contractors, builders and clean-up Kira was there giving 110 percent all the way and we appreciated it! She deserves to be awarded the STAR award.”

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
