The Wellness Council of America (WELCOA), with local affiliate Wellness Council of Wisconsin, recently presented the Silver Well Workplace Award to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

The award recognizes UW Oshkosh’s commitment to the health and well-being of employees. During the past few years, UWO has increased efforts to promote healthy lifestyles and engage employees. Most recently, the Step It Up campaign challenged participants to create a healthy exercise habit over the course of five weeks to obtain as many “steps” as possible. More than 200 employees participated.

The Well Workplace Awards initiative is driven by a rigorous set of criteria outlined in WELCOA’s seven benchmarks to a result-oriented Well Workplace. Since its inception in 1991, more than 1,000 organizations, ranging from educational institutions to nonprofit and profit sectors, have joined the list of “America’s Healthiest Companies” by receiving the Well Workplace Award

“The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh has clearly demonstrated their commitment to protect and enhance the health and well-being of their employees. By meeting the comprehensive standards necessary to achieve the Silver Well Workplace Award, UW Oshkosh is prioritizing the well-being of their employees as a foundation of their University’s culture,” said Marissa Kalkman executive director of the Wellness Council of Wisconsin.
