UW-Fond du Lac Dean John Short presented the 2013 Spirit of Excellence Award to Judith Berger O’Brien at the Corks and Forks event held at the university on March 21.

This award honors individuals who have made exceptional commitment of support to UW-Fond du Lac. She was recognized for her establishment of the Berger Book Bag Fund to honor the memory of her late husband Joseph Berger, Jr. and his father, Joseph Berger, Sr.

Through this fund qualified students receive financial assistance with the cost of textbooks. The Corks and Forks event was attended by 175 guests and featured a five course Italian dinner in the University Center Commons. Proceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships and the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation.
