Menasha, Wis. (Feb. 1, 2016) – At noon on Thursday, Feb. 11, The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley will welcome Ali Paris, a classical qanun player and vocalist, to James W. Perry Hall at 1478 Midway Road, Menasha, Wis.

Since his professional debut at just age 12, Paris has established himself as one of the world’s foremost classical players of the qanun, a 76-stringed Middle Eastern instrument similar to a zither. He has played concerts at the United States Embassy in Madrid, the royal palace of Jordan, the United Nations and has appeared as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Alicia Keys and Quincy Jones. He is a featured artist in the film Noah, the leader of the Ali Paris Quintet and released his debut album Dream in 2015.

Paris’ musical style as a performer and composer combines elements of genres such as flamenco, jazz and electronica with classical Arabic music. The Feb. 11 concert is free and open to the public.
