Pardeep Singh Kaleka who lost his father in the 2012 Sikh Temple shooting in Oak Creek and Arno Michaelis, a former white supremacist who helped to start a gang back in the late 1980s that produced the Sikh Temple shooter, will speak at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Monday, April 8.

Kaleka and Michaelis are the co-founders of Serve2Unite and authors of “The Gift of our Wounds.” On Monday, April 8, the two will share their message of forgiveness after hate as a part of the Moving Past Hate event at UWO. The event will be held in Reeve Memorial Union from 6 until 7:30 p.m.

Also on campus will be Masood Akhtar, founder of We Are Many United Against Hate, a Madison-based, non-partisan, nonprofit, state-wide organization of common people seeking equal protection for all and united against hate, bigotry and racism.

Prior to the public event, a staff and instructor workshop including Kaleka and Micahelis also will be held on campus.

The event is cosponsored by Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Department of Anthropology and Religious Studies, Interfaith Dialogue and Education Alliance, Reeve Union.
