Aspiring harpists and fans of harp music alike are invited to attend a one-of-a-kind University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Harp Day Concert on Sept. 21.

Presented by harp instructor Tammy Kazmierczak, the group harp concert is free and will take place at 1 p.m. in the Music Hall, Arts and Communication Center (1001 Elmwood Ave) and will feature sophomore harp major Elsa Zank of Sun Prairie as she performs alongside harpists from all around Wisconsin.

“I’m very excited about the whole day. We span a wide variety of ages and musical backgrounds, but all have a shared love for the harp,” Zank said. “It’s a wonderful chance to share my passion for this beautiful instrument with the Oshkosh and UWO community.”

Not only will the Harp Day Concert showcase Zank’s talent, but it will also help raise awareness of the UWO harp program and provide resources for those interested in learning to play the harp.

“It’s not everyday that you can have nine different harp players playing on all different sizes of harps from lever to pedal, and so many styles of music demonstrated,” Kazmierczak said. “If anyone has ever been curious about the harp or wants to know what UWO offers, here’s a chance to see live harps, ask harpists questions and hear a wide variety of beautiful sounds on one of the planet’s most ancient and vibrant instruments. Maybe even try one out for fun!”
