WRST-FM at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is joining college radio stations around the U.S., including six in Wisconsin, in participating in the annual “College Radio Day” on Friday, Oct. 4.

To help mark the occasion, WRST will debut a new program series.  At 3 p.m Friday, WRST will offer the first installment of the First Friday Concert Series, featuring live recordings of UWO jazz ensembles.  These concert recordings are selected and prepared for broadcast by the UWO music department and will add to the jazz programming heard on the station each weekday afternoon.

The series is scheduled for the first Friday of each month this fall.

WRST-FM has been on the air since 1966, offering listeners an alternative program schedule that features an eclectic variety of music genres, along with local news, talk and sports. The programs are produced by UW Oshkosh students, many of whom are majoring in radio TV film. WRST alumni can be found in media careers throughout the country.

WRST-FM airs local programs from 1 p.m. to midnight daily and Wisconsin Public Radio’s Ideas Network offerings at other times. The station is heard at 90.3 on the FM dial in the Oshkosh area and worldwide at wrst.org.
