A celebration of the popular collaborative e-tutoring program that includes University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and has helped K-12 students across the country is planned for 5:30 p.m. Thursday over Zoom.

The program includes UW Oshkosh, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Green Bay, St. Norbert College, Lawrence University, Ripon College and University of North Georgia.

UWO professor Marguerite Penick-Parks was invited to join the effort launched by St. Norbert associate professor Bola Delano-Oriaran. Teacher candidates were paired with hundreds of K-12 students in 18 states and Canada for online tutoring during the coronavirus crisis.

Thursday evening’s celebration honors all of the participants in the program, including the tutors, families, communities and higher education institutions. UWO Chancellor Andrew Leavitt and College of Education and Human Services Dean Linda Haling are among those who’ll address the group.

Registration for the Zoom event is now open. Along with those involved, members of the media also are welcome.

The e-tutoring program wraps up May 15 and will have brought together about 330 college students with more than 500 K-12 students.
