Hello, everyone! I am a Senior graduating in May 2021 with a major in Communication Studies and a minor in Public Relations. From being a tour guide and working in the Admissions office, I often get asked why I am glad that I chose to attend UWO. I love this question, but I still find it difficult to answer. I will never be able to fully describe why UW Oshkosh was the right fit for me because I still find myself being surprised by all of the student resources. It is nearly impossible for me to describe how grateful I am for the past 4 years, so naturally, I turned to some of my peers. I asked 11 of my friends why they are glad that they chose to become a Titan, and I managed to compile some great answers.

The first week of freshman year, when I went to Taste of Oshkosh with some friends and saw all of the opportunities available and ways to get involved. I also love the size, not too big, and not too small. I feel like I can always meet new people, but I never feel like a number. -Areliz, Sophomore, Accounting & Finance

In addition to being a great school where I feel comfortable, Oshkosh is a great place to live. Coming from a town of only 11,000, there are so many diverse experiences and people to meet. When I refer to “home,” I’m always talking about Oshkosh, not my hometown. -Jake, Sophomore, Secondary Education

I love all of the involvement opportunities here that help me feel supported as a student and individual. You can get involved in something related to your major, for your extracurricular interests, or getting an on-campus job! Also, all of the student resources available are extremely helpful for navigating your undergraduate experience! This includes Career and Professional Development, Center for Academic Resources (tutoring), or thFootball Tunnele Counseling Center! -Olivia, Junior, Psychology

Originally, I was not thrilled to come to UWO. As a first-generation student, my idea of college was only what I saw in the media and I didn’t love what I thought college life was going to be. Well, let me tell you, that was so wrong! As soon as I got to campus I became involved and made so many amazing friends. My favorite part about UWO is that no matter what you are interested in, you will find something for you that you enjoy! I am so excited that I chose Oshkosh and I couldn’t imagine what my life would look like if I wasn’t here! -Alexis, Sophomore, Nursing

I’m happy I chose to be a Titan because there were endless leadership and professional development opportunities. The activities both inside and outside of the classroom helped to prepare me for career success after college!  -Emily, Senior, Human Resources

I am so glad that I chose to come to UWO four years ago because I get to experience the amazing atmosphere of campus every day. I remember that when I first started my time here, someone explained to me that at UWO, everyone treats each other like it’s their birthday every day, and I couldn’t agree more. UWO is where I have met some of the kindest people in the world, and I am going to miss it so much after I graduate. -Macy, Senior, Communication Studies

I am so glad to have been a Titan for the ability to connect closely with professors that truly care about not only my present but future success. I would not have been able to accomplish what I have without their continuing support! -Miranda, Senior, Criminal Justice

I’m glad to be at UWO because it offers a college experience that is exactly what I was looking for. In my major, class sizes are perfect for getting to know my fellow students, professors, and to feel like my voice and ideas are heard. I also love how involved I can be with the surrounding community. Thanks to the connections I’ve made at UWO, both the campus community and the community of Oshkosh have become my home. -Gaby, Senior, Communication Studies

I’m happGrad Capy that I go to UWO because of all the opportunities that are possible for students. The campus has many free resources for students to utilize such as: group exercise programs, resume workshops, counseling sessions and more. -Alex, Junior, Communication Studies

Opportunities on campus, being supported and surrounded by people who are all trying to achieve the same goal, found comfort in knowing that people who are here want to be here -Alyssa, Senior, Elementary Education

I’m happy that I go to UWO because of all of the amazing faculty and resources available to me. Student/professor ratios are perfect for me and I’m able to collaborate and learn with my peers and professors. The Center for Academic Resources (CAR) has been an invaluable resource to me throughout my time at UWO. I have been able to get tutoring in tough classes to help me succeed and get great feedback and insight on my professional development, such as interviewing skills, advancing my resume, sharpening my professional communication skills, and developing my LinkedIn/Handshake profiles to get noticed by recruiters and employers. -Peyton, Senior, Communication Studies
