On Friday November 1st, Regent President Petersen appointed a nine-member Search and Screen Committee to help identify a successor to UW System President Ray Cross. In contrast to the past two UW System President searches, the search and screen committee formed on Friday, does not include faculty representation. In August 2013, an 18-member search and screen committee named to replace UW System President Kevin P. Reilly included faculty and staff, as well as one student member. Similarly, in March 2004 faculty members (and a student representative) were among the 18-member search and screen committee named to replace UW System President Katharine C. Lyall.
On November 5th, the UWO Faculty Senate passed a resolution objecting to the new search and screen committee composition and calling on the Board of Regents to consider a more inclusive committee composition. The resolution was then approved by the Academic Staff Senate, University Staff Senate and Oshkosh Student Association Senate on the 6th.
