Address Format and Envelope Layout
To ensure proper handling and delivery of mail and packages, please be sure to review the standards for address format and envelope layout.
Address all campus mail to a recipient’s Name and Mailstop. Do not list Building Name, Street Address, or Room Number.
If the envelope does not have the recipient’s mail stop, this will cause delay of delivery and possible return to sender.
Return address must include department postal code and department name.
Position the mailing address as close to the middle front of the envelope as possible.
All addresses in window envelopes must remain entirely in the window. Tap the envelope on a hard surface to make sure the entire address shows and does not move out of the window. Failure to do this may delay delivery or cause the item to be returned to sender.
Standard Address Abbreviations
Your Campus Mailstop is usually your department or College.
