Contractors working on the City’s street reconstruction project for W. Lincoln Avenue and McKinley Street are moving along. This next week they will setup and pave (street concrete) the north half of W. Lincoln Avenue from Elmwood Avenue to Wisconsin Street.

The week of August 21st, those same crews will do the set-up and pave the south half of W. Lincoln Avenue (from Elmwood Avenue to Wisconsin Street) in addition to the whole width of McKinley Street.

After that work is completed, the crews will be focused on completing driveways, then sidewalks. For our campus move-in, the sections near our residence halls (Fletcher, Evans and Stewart) where we do not currently have concrete sidewalks will be temporarily set with gravel. After move-in, they will be working on completing the rest of the reconstruction work.

As the project continues, please note that key intersections and pathways around campus are impacted at various stages of the work. Caution is advised at all intersections along W. Lincoln, Scott and McKinley streets, as construction equipment will continue to go in and out of the area.

The project is still on schedule to be completed by the end of September, assuming no weather delays.

The No. 2 Bus route that travels along Jackson is not expected to be affected by construction. You can always find details in the GO Transit app or on Go Transit’s Facebook page.
