A new study by SmartAsset again confirms what we already know: Oshkosh is a top-notch place to live.

The home of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh landed at No. 3 on the list of “the most livable college towns” in America published by the online financial advice resource. The study was used as the basis for a Yahoo! Finance article published last week.

Here’s what SmartAsset had to say about Oshkosh:

Home to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, this town of nearly 67,000 residents ranks highly for housing costs that are just 19.69% of the median household income, sixth-lowest across our study. Oshkosh also has the 12th-highest concentration of restaurants and entertainment establishments (11.95%). With a relatively low property crime rate (15th-lowest) and June 2021 unemployment rate (21st-lowest), Oshkosh is the No. 3 most livable college town according to our metrics.

The study examined about 120 cities of at least 40,000 people and at least one four-year college or university. For a city to qualify, the student population had to make up at least 10% of the overall city population. They then compared these cities based on eight metrics: median household income, housing costs as a percentage of median household income, concentration of restaurants and entertainment establishments, average commute time, percentage of households with internet access, June unemployment rate, property crime rate and violent crime rate.

The SmartAsset ranking continues a trend of Oshkosh performing well in similar studies. In 2019, a Schools.com study declared Oshkosh No. 1 on a list of the “20 best college towns in the U.S.”
