Multicultural Student Coalition (MSC) Leadership Retreat

The MSC Leadership Retreat takes place in the spring semester. The retreat brings together student leaders and UW Oshkosh administrators to facilitate and discuss 21st-century leadership strategies and provide students with career readiness skills that will position them for internships, college employment and life and a career beyond UW Oshkosh. The overarching goal is to increase college persistence and graduation, particularly among underserved minority students and prepare them for success inside and outside of the classroom and to provide students with practical information and tools to support their college and career success.

Multicultural Student Organizations

Get involved at UW Oshkosh by joining any of the following multicultural student organizations offered on campus:

Black Student Union (BSU)

The purpose of the Black Student Union (BSU) is to create a positive African American/Black voice on campus and in the community. BSU focuses on the educational advancement of all students; while encouraging cultural awareness, current issues, leadership development, and building a strong alliance with organizations and resources on campus. BSU addresses the advancement of students through cultural, educational, and civic activities. BSU develops and encourages students to participate in all events to develop a student’s sense of ownership, worth, and belonging to the organization. The overall goal of BSU is to strengthen and motivate one another through cultural and academic activities.

Hmong Student Union (HSU)

The Hmong Student Union (HSU) is a student organization that promotes educational, social, and cultural values at UW Oshkosh and in the community.  HSU offers various educational and cultural activities focused on the Hmong culture and provides opportunities for students to interact with other students and the campus community and gain leadership and personal development skills.

Inter-Tribal Student Council (ITSC)

The objective of the Inter-Tribal Student Council is to act as an advocate for an Indigenous Studies Program at UW Oshkosh; to act as an advocacy group for Native American/Indigenous issues and concerns; to coordinate efforts to work jointly with other student organizations and academic departments in special events; to recruit and retain Native American/Indigenous students for UW Oshkosh, and to have fun!

Gentlemen of Excellence (GOE)

The Gentlemen of Excellence is a social and cultural student-led group committed to improving the personal and professional growth of male students in the areas of leadership development, and service projects in the Oshkosh community. Through programming directed at the building of self-esteem, self-determination, and conference attendance/building, GOE promotes effective means of collaboration with other groups—on campus, locally, and regionally—leading to greater outreach and engagement of male students.

Multicultural Student Coalition (MSC)

The Multicultural Student Coalition strives to promote student leadership and success through fostering a passion for diversity in our community by offering and promoting a variety of cultural experiences and serving as a platform and voice for multicultural/multiracial issues and the umbrella to the multicultural organizations on the Oshkosh campus.

Student Organization of Latinos (SOL)

Student Organization of Latinos serves to promote student leadership and success. Through hosting and co-hosting social and cultural events, SOL helps create a more welcoming, open-minded, and educated environment both on campus and in the community. SOL is also a support group formed through the active participation of Latino students and non-Latino students.
