INT. A Tavern Around Closing Time — NIGHT
A young BARFLY leans against the bar, flirting with LOUIE.

LOUIE
…So, what’s a nice girl like you doin’
in a place like this?

BARFLY
(laughs)
I ain’t lost if that’s what you’re askin’!
I’m just out and about. They say you’re
supposed to come here for interesting company.

LOUIE
Here? Nah. My place has a lot more
interesting company than this dive.

BARFLY
Is that so? Well, I’d love to see your
little abode, if you’d have me.

LOUIE
Well, I was thinkin’ about having you—
JACK enters the bar, forcing Louie back into his job.

LOUIE(CON’T)
Ugh. Sorry, Sugar. Not tonight. If it
were any other night, absolutely. But,
I have something I gotta take care of.
Maybe some other time…

BARFLY
Aww, but Louie…

LOUIE
Run along now, Doll. Business to tend
to. I’ll see you later.

The Barfly leaves as Louie greets Jack.
