As the clouds part on the COVID-19 pandemic this fall, we move into the heart of our University of Wisconsin Oshkosh sesquicentennial celebration. UWO is strong and resilient. We have much to celebrate and look forward to as we innovate, provide the best educational experience for our students and serve our regional communities.

UWO will host a community celebration on Sunday, Sept. 12. It’s an open invitation to students, faculty and staff members, alumni and the community. We want everyone to join us in the center of the Oshkosh campus, enjoy food and music and mark the day when classes began at this life-changing institution back in 1871.
Oct. 22 and 23 brings homecoming and the robust return of fall athletics. Our plan is fans in the stands, whatever the venue. Your go-to sites for all the details and opportunities to join us are uwosh.edu/alumni and uwoshkoshtitans.com.
On Saturday, Nov. 13, we’ll gather for the UWO Black and Gold Scholarship Ball, our premier, black-tie event to raise new student scholarship dollars. We continue to grow our Give 150 Fund through the UW Oshkosh Foundation, with a goal of raising $1.5 million. Again, your gifts support student scholarships and the institution’s journey into the next 150 years. Go to uwo.sh/give150 to learn more.
All of this says nothing of the restored fall concerts, theater productions, gallery shows, speakers and other events that make the UWO experience so rich. There is a lot to look forward to and put on your calendars.
And I’d also like to offer a glimmer into UWO’s next 150. Strike up the band!
If you haven’t already heard, we’re launching the Titan Thunder Marching Band in 2022. Why? It’s among the top activities prospective students tell us they wish we offered. And it’s about more than music and marching—it’s about a program that develops student leadership, hones school spirit and deepens University pride throughout our region. We can’t wait for the Titan Thunder to step off in fall 2022.
