On-Demand Caregiver Training

On-Demand courses offer anytime online access for direct care staff. These 1-to-2-hour courses can be used to meet continuing education requirements. Each course is available for 6 months upon registration and may be completed in one visit or as time allows.

Addressing Substance Use Disorder & Medication Diversion

Know the signs & symptoms

Intended Audience: Employees and contractors of regulated healthcare and homecare providers

The purpose of this 1-hour online training is to increase awareness of substance use disorder and share best practices for preventing medication diversion.

The course is divided into four sections and an online assessment, focusing on the following topics:

  • Increasing employee’s and contractor’s awareness of Substance Use Disorder and Medication Diversion,
  • Understanding what controlled substances are,
  • Learning best practices for preventing and reporting diversion, and
  • Identifying possible substance use disorder and treatment resources

Fee: $35 per registrant (participant will have access to course for 6 months)

Caregivers are KEY to Preventing Misconduct

Knowledge, Empathy & Your Awareness are KEY

Intended Audience: Employees and contractors of regulated healthcare and homecare providers in Wisconsin

The purpose of this 2-hour online training is to help direct caregiving staff recognize how their knowledge, empathy, and awareness are key to preventing misconduct by recognizing the red flags and protecting clients from harm.

The course is divided into three sections and an online assessment, on the following topics:

  • Understanding the definitions of misconduct,
  • How to recognize signs of possible misconduct, and
  • A review of the duty to report misconduct

Fee: $35 per registrant (participant will have access to course for 6 months)

Compassion Fatigue in Caregiving

Take care of yourself to take care of others

Intended Audience: Employees and contractors of regulated healthcare and homecare providers in Wisconsin

The purpose of this 1-hour online training is to focus on caregiver compassion fatigue, recognizing the red flags of compassion fatigue, finding empathy, and strategies for self-care so that you can better meet your needs, as well as the needs of your clients.

The course is divided into four sections and an online assessment, on the following topics:

  • The impact of compassion fatigue on caregivers and clients receiving care in all provider types regulated by the Division of Quality Assurance,
  • How to recognize the symptoms of compassion fatigue,
  • Practicing empathetic responses for more successful interactions with others, and
  • Demonstrating strategies to reduce compassion fatigue

Fee: $35 per registrant (participant will have access to course for 6 months)

Increasing Safety by Preventing Violence

Ensuring a safer living and working environment

Intended Audience: All staff, residents and family members

The purpose of this 2-hour online training is to reduce the incidence of workplace violence in residential care facilities, increase the quality of life for residents and help ensure the safety of frail and elderly residents.

The course is divided into four 25-minute sections, plus a 20-minute online assessment, on the following topics:

  • Definition and potential sources of workplace violence,
  • Early recognition of escalating behavior/warning signs,
  • Appropriate responses and reporting when volatile situations and/or aggressive behavior occurs, and
  • Ways to protect oneself, residents, co-workers.

Fee: $35 per registrant (participant will have access to course for 6 months)
