Welcome to the Fall 2021 Semester!

Over the summer, our IT Teams were busy at work doing updates/upgrades around all three of our campuses including project implementation for various software systems and infrastructure. A complete list of our project portfolio is available here.

A few policy changes happened over the summer. The biggest one being that email forwarding was turned off, meaning that if you forwarded your UW Oshkosh email to another address outside of the UW Oshkosh organization it will no longer work. IT encourages the use of the mobile app for users who would like to access email on the go. We have instructions in our Knowledgebase for Outlook – iOS Setup, and Outlook – Android Setup.

For those of you who have been requesting computer and AV quotes, you may have noticed a delay between when equipment is purchased and when it arrives on campus. On average, most purchases are exceeding two month on delivery times and are changing regularly. We apologize for this delay, and we’re working with our vendors to expedite the process as much as we can. We also would like to remind our campus community about purchasing requirements put in place by the UW System (link). We encourage users to plan ahead when it comes to purchasing computers, peripherals, or audio visual equipment. For computers and peripherals, please fill out the Purchasing Request Form on our IT Website. For software or audio visual purchases, please contact our Help Desk. Even when equipment or software arrives on campus, the turnaround time will not be instantaneous. IT strongly recommends requesting equipment or software well in advance of need.

For those of you teaching in the Fall, you may appreciate some Canvas training. If you are interested, please visit our Canvas Classes for Instructors site. It also includes some sessions for Zoom training as well as recordings of old sessions for those who may not be able to make it during the scheduled times. UW System also purchased a system-wide license from Zoom to all UW Oshkosh faculty, staff, and students. Our IT staff has been hard at work making Zoom articles in our Knowledgebase if you are having issues, please check them out here Zoom Knowledgebase Articles. If you are still having trouble, please reach out to our Help Desk.

Speaking of our Help Desk, we did close the location in Dempsey Hall 207 in favor of a larger space. You can find walk up IT assistance in the basement of Polk Library, Polk 005, from 7:30am until 10pm Monday through Thursday and until 4:30pm on Fridays. The Clow Technology Center, located in the basement of Clow, Clow C010, is still open weekdays from 7:30am until 4:30pm.

Have a great semester!
