LGBTQ+ Resource Center History

In 2006, the LGBTQ Education and Advocacy council put forth the proposal for the LGBTQ Resource Center with the help and support of the Rainbow Alliance for HOPE and other various allies on campus. In the fall of 2008, the LGBTQ Resource Center opened its doors to the UWO community in hopes to provide LGBTQ+ programs and services to the community.

In the fall of 2010 the LGBTQ Resource Center devised the Together We Make It Better Campaign to acknowledge that addressing the severely negative effects of homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and acephobia on LGBTQ+ youth is everyone’s responsibility.

Then in January 2015, the LGBTQ Resource Center transitioned into their new and improved space. This new space is still located on the lower level of the center for Equity and Diversity but now provides a larger, more comfortable area to support our mission.
