About OSA

The Oshkosh Student Association is made up of an executive board and a bicameral legislative system. This system of organization is similar to that of the United States Federal Government in the sense that the legislature is made up of two bodies. The Assembly is comparable to the United States House of Representatives and is made up of representatives from all recognized student organizations at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. The Senate is smaller and is open to all students and appoints students to sit on University committees. This style of legislature is unique within the University of Wisconsin System.

The membership of the OSA Executive Board consists of the President, Vice President, Vice President Pro-Tempore, Speaker of the Assembly, Speaker Pro-Tempore of the Assembly and the OSA Office Manager.

The Assembly is one of the two houses of UW Oshkosh’s unique student legislature. While the Assembly is the “lower” house of the OSA legislature, in reality it has just as important and visible a role as the Senate does.

Twenty-five Senators are allotted proportionately to the Colleges of Letters and Science, Education and Human Services, Nursing, and Business Administration based on enrollment within those specific collages.

Serving on a committee is a great way to get involved in OSA and on campus. Students will network with influential staff and faculty while attending the required meetings. The OSA President appoints students to campus wide committees.
