The anticipated closure of the intersection of Algoma Boulevard and W. New York Avenue for paving from the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 22 to the morning of Monday, Sept. 26 is our most notable update for the week.

Additional scheduled work this week includes:

  • Installation of sidewalks and driveway, landscaping and final restoration along Algoma from Woodland Avenue to Wisconsin Street.
  • Installation of the traffic signal at the Wisconsin intersection.
  • Pavement of Algoma between New York Avenue and Woodland.
  • Pavement of the westerly side of Algoma between New York and Woodland.

To stay safe as construction vehicles continue to move in and out of the area, pedestrians should look both ways and cross Algoma only at the designated crosswalks. Another key precaution is to avoid walking or riding bicycles north-south along the newly paved portions of Algoma. The roadway is closed through the end of the project.

To accommodate detoured traffic, High Avenue continues to temporarily accommodate two-way traffic.

Detours continue for GO Transit bus routes No. 5 and No. 10. Find details in the GO Transit app or on Go Transit’s Facebook page.
