In this sample version of an integrated unit, students will design and construct a zine based on an important life experience or event. The sample features the integration of visual art and English language arts. However, the reader is invited to revise and sharpen this learning experience to fit the needs of students within one’s own curriculum. While designed with 4th-graders in mind, the unit could be tailored for younger or older students. Choices are provided in the unit plan so the user can determine where to place emphasis.
