Login Accounts / Resource Access
Information Technology acknowledges that there may be specific job tasks or research activities that require administrative privileges, which are not granted by default due to UW System’s Information Security Policy. These privileges are reviewed annually and require approval by leadership.
Alumni Email Account
Google Apps is the email, calendaring, and file storage system for UW Oshkosh alumni. Although this is provided by UW Oshkosh it is not linked with UW Oshkosh resources such as the university calendar or directory information (more commonly referred to as TitanApps).
Digital Learning Environment
The Digital Learning Environment (DLE) is a UW System supported online suite of software tools for teaching and learning. There are 3 foundational tools that all work together: Canvas (learning management system), Blackboard Collaborate (web conferencing) and Kaltura (video streaming/repository). UW System is currently transitioning away from D2L (Desire 2 Learn) but it will be supported through Summer 2019.
For information and data security Information Technology discourages, and may not be able to support, locally stored data. Shared folders and files are available through campus as well as third-party applications: Google Drive and OneDrive.
Outlook is the email, calendaring, and file storage system used at UW Oshkosh. Provided by Microsoft, this system is used to access Email, Calendar, and OneDrive as well as other Microsoft online apps.
Linux Lab Account
Login accounts used in the Linux computer lab environments (Halsey Teaching Lab, Halsey Linux Lab, and some Computer Science labs).
Mailing List Access
Mailing lists at UW Oshkosh are controlled by mailing list management software called GNU Mailman. This software allows list owners to control settings and manage user subscriptions for their list. Users may also interact with Mailman to subscribe and unsubscribe from mailing lists. All interaction can be done through the web-based interface provided by the Mailman software.
A NetID is a username and password combination which allows access to University services. The NetID username is generated from University records and typically includes some combination of a user’s first and last name and, for some, digits of the campus ID number.
