Welcome to the UW Oshkosh fall 2018 freshman class!

Confirmation Information

Check-in Time: 7:15-7:55 a.m. (Program begins at 8 a.m.)

Location: Reeve Memorial Union, 1st floor

End Time: Approximately 4:00 p.m. followed by an optional campus tour


At Titan Takeoff, you will:

  • Connect with other new students.
  • Learn about life as a Titan.
  • Connect with campus peer leaders.
  • Meet individually with an academic adviser.
  • Receive the results of your placement tests.
  • Schedule your fall 2018 classes
  • Have your picture taken for your TitanCard (student ID card). You must bring proper photo identification. (Please see “What will I need to bring?” section for additional information.)

Parents and other family members/guests are encouraged to attend Titan Takeoff and will follow a schedule that has been tailored to meet the needs of parents and family members/guests of incoming students.

Students and families/guests will have separate schedules for the day.


Student Schedule:

7:15-7:55 a.m. Check-in and Continental Breakfast, Reeve Memorial Union
(Financial Aid Counselors will be available during this time, first floor Reeve Union)

8:00-8:15 a.m. University Welcome

8:20-8:55 a.m. Welcome to College and Advising 101: Getting the Most Out of Your Advising

9:00 a.m.- 2:50 p.m. Rotating Sessions, Academic Advising and Lunch

2:50- 4:00 p.m. Course Registration. As students finish registering they will return to Reeve Union.

3:30 p.m. Resource Fair
** Students will reconnect with their family members/guests between 3:30-4:00 p.m.**

3:45, 4:00, 4:15 p.m. Residence Hall Tours. Tours will depart from the Involvement Desk located on the first floor of Reeve Union near the Algoma Blvd entrance.

4:15 p.m. Campus Tour. Tour will depart from Titan Central, located on the first floor of Reeve Union.

What Will I Need to Bring?

What Will I Need to Bring?

  • Photo identification. You will only receive your TitanCard if you show an acceptable form of identification. Acceptable forms include: Driver’s License, Military ID, State ID card (Information on how to obtain a Wisconsin state ID card can be found here.) or a passport.
  • Your UW Oshkosh NetID and password. Your Net ID will be used to log onto campus computers and register for classes.
    • If you have logged into the housing application, you have already activated your NetID. If you no longer have your NetID and password, please contact the Information Technology Help Desk at helpdesk@uwosh.edu.
    • If you have not logged into the housing application, please follow these steps to activate your NetID:
      • Go to https://netid.uwosh.edu/changePassword/. Click First-time Activation.
      • Your username is the first part of your Titan email account (everything before the @uwosh.edu). Your current password is your student ID number. Then create a new password following the requirements listed in the right-hand column.
  • A light sweater, sweatshirt or jacket. The climate in meeting rooms can be cool. (Recommended)
  • A pen or pencil.
  • Money for family members and guest lunch tickets. (See “Lunch Information” section for additional details.)

Directions, Parking and Lodging Information

Directions:

  1. Take Interstate 41 to Exit 117 (9th Avenue) in Oshkosh.
  2. Head east on 9th Avenue about 1.5 miles and turn left onto Ohio Street.
  3. Continue on Ohio Street over the bridge; the road name changes to Wisconsin Street.
  4. Turn left on Algoma Boulevard and follow it to Lot 15, which will be on your left after you pass Blackhawk Commons (725 High Avenue for your GPS). No parking permit is necessary. Click here to view a campus map.

Lot 15 is closest to check-in at Reeve Memorial Union, but spaces are limited. If you find this lot to be full, continue with the directions below to alternate parking lots. Please include a few extra minutes of travel time.

Alternate Parking Lots:

  1. Continue north on Algoma Boulevard.
  2. Take the first left onto Woodland Avenue and another left onto High Avenue.
  3. Follow High Avenue to Lot 13, which will be on your right after you pass Kolf Sports center (785 High Avenue for your GPS). You can also continue on High Avenue and park on the first level of the High Avenue parking structure. No parking permit is necessary.

Important Parking and Travel Notes:

  • Visit http://www.511wi.gov/Web for construction information on Interstate 41 and other roads along your way.
  • Do not park in metered or restricted spaces. Overnight parking in on-campus lots is prohibited.
  • No parking permit is necessary. You do not need to plug the meters or pay for parking on your Titan Takeoff day.

Affordable residence hall style lodging is also available right on campus! Rooms starting at just $30 per night. Staying at the Gruenhagen Conference center includes access to our computer resource center, an on-site laundry room, on-site recreational room and shared bathroom facilities. Placement Testing

Placement Testing

Placement tests need to be completed at least two weeks prior to your assigned Titan Takeoff date. You will not be allowed to schedule English and math classes without test results. If you have not taken these tests, please visit testing.wisc.edu to register.

Lunch Information

Lunch Information

Family members and guest meal tickets can be purchased at check-in for $6.25 per ticket. (Cash, check or credit card accepted; exact change appreciated.) There is no student lunch fee at this time. The student lunch is covered through the orientation fee, which will appear on the fall semester billing statement in late August. This fee covers materials for the program and cost of additional fall orientation activities.
