Faculty praise for Adrian
Adrian’s value for deep thinking and clear, careful writing is matched only by his care for others and the value he seems in recognizing others’ journey. He has made powerful contributions to the Writing Center!
Adrian is the model of a scholar-activist. His dedication to racial justice, LGBTQ+ visibility and equity, climate justice, and the fight against sanism brought passion and materiality to our class discussions in ways that scholarship alone does not. He is both brilliant and kind. His thoughtful, articulate, and grounded style of speaking truth to power demonstrated an intellectual sophistication that goes well beyond his years.

Hi Adrian! I remember being so excited that you were on the Writing Center staff because I could not wait to meet you. I was already a fan because of the insightful commentary you had shared in our mutual classes. I remember always scanning the conversation posts to see your perspective on whatever the topic was. Your strong sense of “self” translates into charisma. Congratulations!
Jen, thank you for your kind words. I feel honored to be graduating in the same academic year as you, and I am glad our paths crossed in not only our classes but also the Writing Center!
Adrian, while we never formally met in person, I can see how much of a kind, intelligent, and self-assured person you are: in our encounters over Teams, on your videos for the Writing Center, or your speech at Lavender Graduation. Congratulations on your accomplishment!
Thank you, Fallon! I’m glad you enjoyed my Lav Grad speech, as I was kind of a bundle of nerves going up there. I was glad to see you at the ceremony! You have left a massive positive impact on the Writing Center, pushing us to be more inclusive, creating our newsletter, and offering some of the most insightful and supportive feedback for writers that I’ve seen. I am glad to have worked alongside you.
Adrian, my treasure, my joy: If I was an actual poet, I would take this time to wax poetic about how absolutely awesome you are. but the truth is, you already know all of that, and so I want to express how much I have cherished our time together as coaches and 2000s-era music enthusiasts. You are a shining example of the brilliant capabilities that English and the Humanities can offer not just one person, but to an entire society and I so look forward to the brilliance that you will put out in the coming years as a graduate student and scholar!
YOU are the treasure, Christine! Thank you for encouraging me throughout my grad school applications (and offering such helpful feedback on my personal statement), putting up with my weird moods and sense of humor, and letting me tinhat about Frerard at work (yeah, I’ll admit to it publicly with my government name and all). Your patience is unparalleled.
