Graduate Council Committees
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Serve as a planning and advisory resource to the Dean of Graduate Studies regarding administrative policies and procedures, programs, and current issues facing the Graduate School; has the authority and responsibility to hear appeals for exceptions to Office of Graduate Studies policies based on the Graduate Studies’ Appeals Procedure document for: a) graduate students, with subsequent appeal to the entire Graduate Council; b) graduate faculty, departments, or other academic units regarding administrative actions of the Office of Graduate Studies affecting the conduct of graduate programs, subject to appeal to the entire Graduate Council.

CURRICULUM APPROVAL COMMITTEE
Has the authority and responsibility to review changes in curricula, program reviews, credit requirements, and admissions criteria; make decisions that support program quality and consistency of standards in the graduate programs and review other curricular matters; and report actions to the Graduate Council.

ACADEMIC POLICIES COMMITTEE REPRESENTATION
The Academic Policies Committee is a subcommittee of the University’s Faculty Senate, and carries out the faculty’s responsibility for the academic policies and programs of the university. Representation on the Academic Policies Committee includes one graduate faculty member from the Graduate Council’s Curriculum Approval Committee and one graduate student.

DISTINGUISHED RESEARCH AWARD COMMITTEE
Selects annually the University’s most distinguished thesis, clinical paper, or field project manuscript, and reviews graduate student nominees for regional and national honors. No graduate students serve on this committee.

GRADUATE STUDIES TRAVEL FUND COMMITTEE
Discontinued. Reviews applications from graduate students presenting their scholarly work at professional meetings and conferences, and determines award amounts. No graduate students serve on this committee.
GRADUATE STUDIES INITIATIVES PROGRAM COMMITTEE
Discontinued. Reviews funding proposals from graduate faculty and makes recommendations to the Graduate Council to fund or not fund the project. The Graduate Council will discuss and act on all recommendations.
GRADUATE STUDIES REPRESENTATIVE TO THE FACULTY DEVELOPMENT BOARD
The Faculty Development board is committed to providing opportunities for continuing faculty and academic staff to renew their intellectual vitality and further their professional growth. Graduate Studies Office representation includes one graduate faculty member, who is preferably a member of the Graduate Council.

GRADUATE COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE STUDENT RESEARCH & CREATIVE ACTIVITIES BOARD
The Student Scholarly and Creative Activities Board is charged to 1) champion and support a wide range of student research and creative activities and facilitate student collaboration with faculty and instructional staff in scholarly and creative activities; and 2) exercise program oversight and manage the student/faculty collaborative research grant programs. Board representation includes one faculty member of the Graduate Council.

GRADUATE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE ON THE SEGREGATED FEES COMMITTEE
The Segregated Fee Committee is responsible for recommending the maximum level of assessment of segregated fees. The committee includes eight students appointed by the Oshkosh Student Association.
