Growing READERS

Growing Readers is an afterschool tutoring program designed to help young readers improve their reading and comprehension skills in order to reach grade level proficiency. The program is a partnership between the Oshkosh Area School District, the Center for Civic and Community Engagement and UW Oshkosh, and the Oshkosh Area United Way.
The program started in the fall of 2021 with 7 UW Oshkosh college students who worked as tutors. In the first year of tutoring, 87% of the learners reached reading proficiency!
Tutors are hired through the Center of Civic and Community Engagement to work in different OASD schools. Tutors are a variety of majors and minors (not just Education!) We are looking for people who like working with kids and love reading!
Position Details
- Monday to Friday, 3:00 – 5:00 PM (must be available for at least 3 days a week, at least 1 hour during those days)
- Tutors work on the OASD calendar.
- Estimated pay: $12/hour
