Sally Margis Grant

The Sally Margis University Staff Professional Development Fund is a grant available to University Staff members. Annette Blanchette ’60, who served at UW-River Falls as a classified staff member for 32 years, started this fund to help university staff “Jump-start a dream…” and achieve their personal and professional goals.

The Sally Margis Fund will provide a sum of money annually which will be used to support costs associated with career development. The purpose is to enrich your career through education and/or training. You can use the money to take a class, purchase textbooks, provide day care to attend class, etc. The “dream” does not have to be related to your current position on campus.

To receive this grant, you must be a permanent, project or a recurring limited term employee at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh or Access Campuses–UW Fond du Lac and UW Fox Valley. Eligible University Staff employees must have worked on their campus for at least one calendar year. Applicants must fill out an application form and provide a statement of intent, limited to two pages (typed) double-spaced, and must include the following:

  • Education/training/workshop that you plan to attend
  • How will education/training/workshop further your career development or advance your skills?
  • What direct or indirect costs will the award cover?
  • Recipients will give a follow-up report on funds received at the annual University Staff Professional Development Day (USPDD).

Please submit application materials by 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024.
