Jessica Tischaefer: George R. Soika Scholarship ($1700)

Jessica Tischaefer is a junior at UW-Oshkosh who is double majoring in Psychology and Radio/TV/Film with a minor in Music Industry. She originally came to UW Oshkosh to pursue a career in music production and audio engineering. After taking a couple of psychology classes for elective credit and learning about music cognition research that was being conducted on campus, Jessica decided to pick up a psychology major and change her career path. She plans to attend graduate school to earn a PhD in Music Cognition and aims to become a professor of psychology conducting research in music cognition. Jessica is a member of the University Honors College and Psi Chi. She has served as an undergraduate research assistant for three semesters and plans to continue in this role until graduation. She also remains active in the Music and RTF scenes on campus and has worked on a number of projects including lead sound design and score composition on A Fading Mind student film, Music Director and host for WRST-FM Oshkosh, and camera operator for Titan TV Sports. She is very thankful for the gift of this scholarship, as it will help her immensely in achieving her academic goals.

Ashley Plageman: Michael D. Kogutek Scholarship ($2000)

My name is Ashley Plageman, and I am in love with the opportunities here at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. I am currently pursuing a major in Psychology and a minor in Communications. It is an honor studying with the professors here at UWO. Every psychology course I enroll in furthers my passion for learning. It has also been an amazing experience to be a part of tons of other things on campus. I am a part of Psi Chi, the Honors College, Communications Club, and more. I am currently working on a research project that will hopefully be published with one of my professors. It is also a pleasure to be part of the Center for Academic Resources as a tutor and the Undergraduate Advising Resource Center as a Peer Advising Liaison. Once I finish my Bachelor’s Degree, I will pursue a career in Human Resources. My goal is to assist others in any way possible. After a couple of years in the field, I will challenge myself to further my education with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. Ultimately, I can’t wait for the future ahead of me, and this scholarship was a blessing for me.
