UWO Journalism 50th Reunion — Oct. 19 & 20

Moving Forward in Style

Our department is turning 50, and we have many reasons to celebrate: 2,856 graduates; successful alumni in media roles regionally, nationally and internationally; modern majors in multimedia journalism, public relations and advertising; an 87 percent rate for student internships; and an 88 percent job placement rate for recent graduates.

Join us for two days of special events to celebrate 50 years of moving forward in media professionalism, technology and community – while facing challenges and opportunities, and making many memories along the way.

Friday, Oct. 19 – Professional Development Day, Sage Hall (free) featuring 40+ local and national speakers

8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Student and young alumni breakfast with Jim VandeHei,‘95, founder of Axios and Politico
10 a.m. to noon

A series of 50-minute Pro Talks on 14 topics including digital storytelling, politics & media work, sports, entertainment, influencer marketing, new media, and trends in journalism, advertising and public relations
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Open house; social with current and former professors, alumni; tours of department, campus and Advance-Titan
12:30 to 3:15 p.m.
Panels on Fake News; Entrepreneurial Media Work; Digital Storytelling in News, Politics & Entertainment; Brand-Building Media Skills; Grasping Changes of Social Media; and Community Journalism
