Join our vibrant community where students say they feel “at home.” The department helps students grow their professional skills while developing meaningful relationships with peers, faculty and professionals in the field. Students can rely on many department and university resources to help reach their goals.
In addition to writing and visual skills, presentation and design projects are incorporated into assignments so students can present their work with confidence for class, internships and future careers. Each course prepares students to develop skills as professionals to work at media organizations, corporations, nonprofits, public relations agencies and creative firms.

Students can join four of the organizations that are advised by a journalism professor and work to advance knowledge and understanding of various aspects of journalism.
Join Dr. Gleason and other UW Oshkosh students as you focus on documentary photography, the photographic study of places, people and rituals.
“My classroom experience in the journalism department set me up for success when I interned in Los Angeles. The writing and pitching skills I learned easily translated into my internship. Without the help and confidence from my professors, I would not have been able to have an experience of a lifetime in the heart of entertainment.”
