UWO Student Health Center providers and staff are committed to ensuring that LGBTQ+ students receive the highest quality medical care. We value all cultures, backgrounds, genders, and orientations represented in the UW-Oshkosh community and strive to be a safe and inclusive environment that meets the needs of our diverse student population.

Confidentiality is highly regarded in the Student Health Center and as required by law, all appointments and information discussed is always confidential and available to the student solely. Records and information are only released if a student would provide the Student Health Center with a signed medical release giving permission to release such information, or if the department is required by legal directive.

All staff members have received UNITED training through the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, and we strive to provide students with the appropriate medical care and advice related to their individual bodies and perspectives.

Gender Affirming Care Information

UWO Student Health Center follows the WPATH guidelines for providing gender affirming care and utilizes an informed consent model for prescribing gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT). Informed consent is an evidenced based model of care in which a patient is educated on important information, including risks and benefits, about medical procedures or treatments which empowers the patient to make the appropriate decision affecting their health.

We support and affirm the decisions individuals make about their health care. Providers who prescribe gender affirming hormones at this time are: Tricia Burnell, APNP, Kristi Herrick APNP, and Becky Hoerth, APNP.
