Our students can earn one of three different bachelor’s degrees in biology: Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Science Education (BSE). The majority of our majors elect the BS degree.
We currently offer three majors and are working for approval on a fourth. There are two minors offered and is the unofficial host for an interdisciplinary third minor. All of these degree programs are detailed below.
To declare a major or minor, you must fill out a form in the Undergraduate Advising Resource Center which is located in the Student Success Center.
Only the Biology major has emphases. All biology majors must choose one of the following emphases:
- Liberal Arts
- Ecology and Organismal Biology
- Cellular, Molecular, and Professional
- Secondary Education
- Healthcare Business
- Healthcare Science
To be eligible for graduation, students must meet all requirements for the degree being sought in addition to earning a minimum grade point average of 2.00 in all courses required for the Biology, Environmental Health, Microbiology and Radiologic Science majors and the Biology or Microbiology minor. Students seeking Wisconsin teacher certification must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.00 in all courses required for their majors and minors in order to meet requirements of the College of Education and Human Services.
