Biomedical Science Major

The Biomedical Science Major at UW Oshkosh comprises the common requirements for most graduate health profession programs, making it appropriate for PreMedicine, PreDentistry, PreOptometry, PrePhysician Assistant, PrePharmacy, and the like. It is also a good choice for those wishing involvement in biomedical research.  A Biomedical Science major ensures that the student will be trained in anatomy, cell and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, and physiology — covering many content areas found on professional admission exams (MCAT, DAT, OAT, PCAT, etc.). Electives includes special-interest courses such as Entomology, Epidemiology, Environmental Toxicology, Food & Public Health Microbiology, Immunology, Neurobiology, and Parasitology. This major does not mandate Calculus or Physics but, if needed, these can easily be added to a 4-year graduate plan.
