LEARN MORE ABOUT MUSIC
UWO Honor Strings
The UWO Honor Strings day is a day full of engaging and interactive music making focusing on making evident the transferable skills located within music. This year’s theme is leadership. How can we use lessons located within music to create a world that is more safe and equitable? Through rehearsing diverse repertoire and other workshops with UWO faculty, Honor students will explore this question, bringing back to their schools tools for enhanced leadership. Students must receive a nomination from a teacher to participate (e.g., conductor, private instructor). Students will be sent music to prepare before the event. Along with student events, teachers will be offered a free professional development opportunity with UWO faculty. A schedule of events for the Honor day will be shared at a later date.
UWO Titan Winds & Percussion Summit
The UWO Titan Winds & Percussion Summit is a single-day event dedicated to providing students a musically enriching experience through rehearsing outstanding repertoire, sectionals with UWO faculty, and interactions with a guest composer. Teachers will nominate students. After selected students confirm their participation, music will be sent to prepare before the event. Along with student events, teachers will be offered professional development opportunities with UWO faculty and our guest composer. A detailed application timeline and schedule of events for the event will be shared at a later date.
