Facility Policies

MAC Gym Reservations


The SRWC Advisory Committee has passed a policy allowing Recognized Student Organizations and Residence Hall floors limited use of the MAC Gym.  If you are looking for a place to play an indoor sport, this area may be an option for you!

Available Hours

Fridays                                   7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Saturday                                10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Sundays                                 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

  1. Only OSA-recognized student organizations and residence hall floors may reserve the MAC Gym (athletic teams & Sport Clubs are not permitted to reserve the MAC Gym).
  2. Reservations can be made for up to 3 hour blocks of time.
  3. Each group is limited to two reservations a semester.

Services and General Use Policies

Dress Code

The Student Recreation Advisory Committee (comprised of 8 UWO students) developed and approved a policy requiring patrons to wear shirts with sleeves while using all equipment at the SRWC, effective Nov. 1, 2013. Shirts with sleeves can prevent disease transmission and will protect equipment.

Clothing with offensive pictures, writing, or profanity is not permitted.

All SRWC users must bring a second pair of clean shoes to the facility each visit. Please help us keep dirt, sand, salt, snow, etc. out of our building, equipment, & machines.


General Use
  • All users must present a valid Titan Card each visit.
  • All individuals work out at their own risk.
  • Users not familiar with the operation of equipment should seek assistance from staff.
  • Place all belongings in locker rooms or cubbies. Locks are available for checkout at the front desk. Neither UWO nor the Student Recreation staff is responsible for lost or stolen articles.
  • Horseplay, swearing, grunting, and loud noises will not be tolerated.
  • Individuals wishing to listen to personal audio/video must use headphones. Speakers, boomboxes, etc. are not permitted.
  • No food, gum, or tobacco products. Drinks in resealable, non-breakable containers are permitted.
  • Individuals under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave.
  • Individuals exhibiting inappropriate or offensive behavior will be asked to leave.
  • Do not spit on floors, walls, or in the water fountains.
  • Hanging on basketball rims is prohibited. Violators will be charged for damages.
  • Studios A/B, C/D, and E are available when not in use for a reserved activity.
  • Fitness On Demand is available on a first-come basis. See the front desk for access.
  • Personal training may only be conducted by Student Recreation Personal Trainers.
  • Report any injuries, accidents, and damaged or broken equipment immediately to Student Recreation staff.
  • Repeated offenses may result in loss of SRWC privileges.
Fitness Equipment
  • Wipe down equipment after use.
  • Return all weights, dumbbells, bars, and collars to proper location.
  • Refrain from resting weights against benches, walls, mirrors, or on the floor.
  • Do not rest weights against benches, walls, mirrors or on the floor.
  • Everyone works out at their own risk.
  • Walkers should stay on the inside lane.
  • Joggers should use the outside lanes.
  • Slower walkers and runners should move to the inside to all faster runners to pass.  Walk or jog no more than two abreast so others have room to pass.
  • Skateboards, roller blades, and strollers are not permitted.
  • Non-marking athletic footwear or walking shoes are required.
  • Track spikes and street shoes are not permitted.
  • Walk/jog in counterclockwise direction on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and in clockwise direction on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
  • 10 laps equal one mile.
  • Alert a slower walker/jogger when you are passing to avoid confusion or collisions.
  • Stretching areas are located adjacent to the track.
Daily Use Lockers

Lockers are available for use during your period of activity and must be secured with a personal lock. The locker must be vacated at the end of the activity period. Locks left on overnight will be removed and the contents of the locker will be taken to Titan Central in Reeve Union

Lock Rental

A lock can be rented by any member with a valid Titan ID Card at the SRWC. The lock must be returned after your period of activity. Lock rentals are not available at Albee Pool.

Towel Service

Convenience towels are available at the front desk with a valid Titan ID card. Bath/shower towels are not provided.

Equipment Checkout

Recreational equipment (for use in the SRWC only) is available for checkout w/ your Titan ID card. The person checking out the equipment accepts responsibility for any fees assessed for lost or damaged equipment. Check out equipment from the front desk includes:

  • Volleyballs
  • Basketballs
  • Soccer balls
  • Footballs
  • Frisbees
  • Softballs and Gloves
  • Tennis Rackets (Tennis balls $3 per can)
  • Headphones ($2 per pair)
  • Bike Locks

Strength and Conditioning Equipment includes:

  • Bar Pads
  • Jump Ropes
  • Lifting Straps
  • TRX
  • Weight Belts
Photography/Cellular Phone Use

For the privacy and protection of our patrons, filming and photography is prohibited without permission from the management staff. Due to the potential for cellular phones to be used as photographic devices, their use is prohibited in all restroom and locker room areas. Cellular phones may be used in other areas, but must adhere to restrictions regarding filming and photography.


Pick-Up Play

Pick-Up Volleyball:

  • Call your own fouls (e.g., lifts, illegal hits).
  • Rally scoring up to 21 (win by 2).
  • Winning team holds the court (3 games max).
  • New team must consist of 6 players.
  • All players must be rotated in before others can play another game.

Pick-Up Basketball:

  • Call your own fouls. No free throw shots on fouls.
  • Play to 15 by 1’s and 2’s to 21 (win by 2).
  • New teams must consist of 5 new players.
  • All players must be rotated in before others can play another game.
