Taxonomy of Units
OBAM classifies each funded unit within its purview into one of four categories, depicted in the below schematic:
Below is a list of the campus units that fall into the four OBAM categories:
Revenue Units
Revenue Units (RU’s) are any unit on campus which generates revenue equal to or in excess of their costs.
Academic Revenue Units
Academic Revenue Units (ARU’s) are primary generators of tuition revenue via standard and Cost Recovery programs.

Self-Supporting Revenue Units
Self-Supporting Revenue Units (SSRU’s) are units that generate revenue through the sales of products and services to students and other members of the University.

*All revenue units, with the exception of CCDET and Head Start, will be assessed SU costs. *
Support Units
Support Units (SU’s) are units that do not regularly generate enough revenue to cover costs and provide support services for one or more revenue and/or support unit.
Usage-Based Support Units
Usage-Based Support Units are support units whose costs can be assigned using one of OBAM’s metrics.
